Father James+ has since focused his VOCATION on assisting individuals with Addiction, Mental Health Disabilities, Depression and Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, Social Skills Groups, and Individual Therapy. His approach to therapy is that “all healing has to do with the need of mending relationships.” He is both patient-centered and collaborative, emphasizing empathy and understanding.
Father James+ has been both humbled and privileged to serve as a Pastor and Spiritual Director, in his field work, providing patients with both Spiritual Direction and Biblical Knowledge/Wisdom. He offers a weekly Service in which he Celebrates the Holy Eucharist with patients who long to rekindle their faith or who are searching to find faith.
Father James+ refers to himself as ‘Father James+ the simple’ and is guided by the words that Jesus himself read from the scroll of Isaiah in chapter 61, in which he says, [“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, [1] to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor”] and echos the words of Henri Nowen, “My deepest vocation is to be a witness to the glimpses of God I have been allowed to catch.”
